Danderyd - Futuraskolan
International Curriculum International School of Stockholm

Who we are

Futuraskolan International pre-school Danderyd is a bilingual pre-school with children and staff from all over the world. We have an international perspective preparing the children to be citizens of the world and our pedagogical activities are performed in both Swedish and English.

English is our common language, but we are able to support the children in other languages.

Our Location

We are located in Danderyd, close to the center. We have a playground connected to our building and we are only a short distance from the forest. By utilizing the city transportation we have a plethora of Stockholm’s museums, theatres and parks at our fingertips.

What we offer and how we work

We follow The Swedish Curriculum and we also work with the  International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC). The IEYC is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum with a clear process of learning and with specific learning goals for every subject, for international mindedness and for personal learning.

We work thematically to stimulate learning in the areas of Social skills, Language, Mathematics , Motorics, Arts and Natural sciences. We utilize many forms of pedagogical documentation, but something that follows our children through the years is their personal portfolio. All classrooms have their own iPad and ICT is part of our daily program.

The pre-school has several theme rooms so all children are given the opportunity to use and be in different theme rooms all over the pre-school. We want the children to own the whole pre-school and to feel safe everywhere and with all staff members. We want them to feel joy and to be stimulated not only by the teachers, their friends and activities but also by a well thoughtful pedagogical environment.

Welcome to Futuraskolan International Preschool Danderyd!

🇪🇺✨ Erasmus+ in Cuenca – jobshadowing, learning, inspiration and unforgettable hospitality ✨🇪🇸

We (KC from Näsby Park, Saša from Brunbärsvägen, Angelina from Gåshaga, Katerina from Kvarnskogen, Ariel from Danderyd and Sandra from Skarpäng) had the opportunity to experience several inspiring days filled with pedagogical exchange, classroom observations and professional dialogue in Cuenca, Spain with Erasmus +.

From the very first welcome at CEIP Fuente del Oro, we were met with such warmth, generosity and outstanding hospitality. The staff made us feel truly welcome, and their openness created the perfect environment for meaningful learning and collaboration.

Throughout the programme, we explored different parts of the school’s educational work: 📚 visits to Early Childhood Education and Primary Education classrooms
👩‍🏫 observation of teaching methods, classroom organisation and learning materials
🧠 discussions about pedagogical structures, school development and educational projects
🤝 exchange of ideas with teachers about inclusive practices, resources and innovation in education

One of the most valuable parts of the visit was seeing how pedagogy comes to life in everyday practice – through classroom organisation, student engagement, collaboration and thoughtful educational planning. It was especially inspiring to reflect together on how different school systems can learn from one another and how international cooperation strengthens education for both teachers and students.

The programme also included cultural and social experiences, a visit to the University of Castilla-La Mancha, and time to continue conversations about educational innovation beyond the classroom. We got to take part of cultural outings like visiting the local market, a history tour of old town and see the mountain of the outside of town.

We return from Cuenca with new perspectives, new ideas and a deep appreciation for the people who welcomed us with such kindness.
Thank you for your incredible hospitality, professionalism and willingness to share your work with us. 🌍❤️

Happy Sweden National Day! 🇸🇪

On Friday, we celebrated together with our young learners and had a wonderful time. We danced to their favorite Swedish songs, enjoyed face painting, talked about Sweden and Swedish traditions, and listened to beloved Swedish stories such as Pippi Longstocking and Alfons Åberg. We also learned about the Dala horse, one of Sweden’s most iconic national symbols.

Most importantly, we had lots of fun together celebrating Sweden, its culture, and traditions.

Glad nationaldag! 🇸🇪❤️💙💛
