Our Coordinators
We asked our coordinators what they enjoy most about being part of the project and why they became Global Citizenship coordinators. Here are their responses.
Angelina

“The collaborations between the units, its really fun and giving for both children and teachers. Also getting ideas from the other units and work together with all with common projects. Finding new ways to work with sustainability with the children and fun days to celebrate. Also getting the chance of being part of Erasmus project.
I was asked to take over when an old colleague was leaving his position, i was helping out before taking over the role and found it fun and interesting.”

“I enjoy most about being part of the GCP is fostering a love of learning in young children & I also appreciate the teamwork, different viewpoint/ ideas that have the creativity.
I joined the GCP for its global focus and English language, but now I have discovered how exciting & important it is to teach kids about GCP, through educational & fun activities.”
Haya

“What I enjoy most about working as part of the GCP is the opportunity to integrate more of its work into the school environment and guide others in recognizing the importance of what we do for the organization. I find it rewarding to help both students and colleagues understand the impact of these initiatives and how they contribute to a greater global perspective.
I joined the GCP from the beginning because I enjoy being part of larger projects that have the potential to influence not only the organization but also society as a whole – most importantly, our students. The topics we work with in GCP are highly relevant to everyday life, and I find it meaningful to educate and engage our students, who are the future citizens of our world. “
Janine

“I love and I get inspired and motivated about the aspect of Social Justice, when it comes to rights, like protecting human rights and the fact that it should apply to all people and not just a few. How do we promote fairness in a local and even global scale? How do we get children to understand and live by human rights, becoming great and aware global citizens.?
I have not been part of it for long, but I have followed closely all projects and helped to the best of my abilities to reach its goals.”
Kat

“I love collaborating with other schools – highlighting events and special days and connecting GCP withing my lessons. Also new experiences and educating the student.
I love highlighting events and celebrating special days in a creative way – I found I was doing it already within my lessons and I have so much drive and passion for GCP.”

“For me, GCP is about moving beyond the classroom walls to foster a deep sense of empathy. I don’t just want our students to learn about the world; I want them to realize their own power to effect change. Seeing their self-esteem grow through that service is the most rewarding part about GCP. I am constantly inspired when I see our learners transition from passive observers into active ‘Solutionaries’. The future belongs to those who can bridge cultures, solve systemic problems, and lead with compassion. We don’t just prepare students for the future; we prepare them to shape it.”
Steve

“I am greatly rewarded when I see my learners showing empathy and taking initiative to support meaningful causes, putting ideas into action, raising awareness, promoting global competence and becoming changemakers for a better world.
At an international school it might be easy to take for granted that you are internationally minded, globally competent and interculturally aware, but until you engage with the kinds of activities that our Global Citizenship Program does to put empathy into action, you won’t discover deeper meaning and personal connection to who you are and who you can be as a global citizen. We all can do more to explore our own values, act on them, and help to inspire others to make meaningful ideas happen.”
Kendji

“What matters most to me about the Global Citizenship Program is helping students understand the world beyond their own experience and empowering them to grow into thoughtful and responsible global citizens. I especially enjoy seeing students educate their peers about the Sustainable Development Goals and turn ideas into action through projects and fundraisers. Watching them move from learning about global issues to making a real impact is incredibly rewarding.”
Marta

“Connecting with people
I was very inspired by the concept”
Carly

“I really enjoy how my role lets me connect students with the world beyond their classrooms. It’s amazing to see them have these incredible, memorable experiences. Whether it’s collaborating with other schools, meeting people from different backgrounds, or working with various organisations, it’s all about opening doors to new possibilities and networks. Plus, I find it incredibly rewarding to see students develop their self-esteem through helping others. By engaging in community service or random acts of kindness, they not only contribute positively to their communities but also experience a boost in confidence and self-worth. This sense of accomplishment and purpose helps them realise their value and capabilities, fostering a more resilient and confident individual.
I joined the GCP because I believe in its mission to help students become active global citizens. I was drawn to the idea of being part of something that could shape the next generation of leaders and change-makers. Plus, it was a great opportunity to be at the forefront of this educational movement and contribute to creating a more inclusive and sustainable world.”
Amelia

“Being part of the Global Citizen Project is very meaningful to me. I had the privilege of being one of the first people involved when the project started around 2017. During that time, we visited the Philippines on a couple of occasions, where I was able to witness firsthand the impact that small actions and collective efforts can have on the lives of others. Those experiences deeply inspired me and reinforced my belief in the importance of raising compassionate and responsible global citizens.
I am especially passionate about helping our preschoolers understand that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference. Through simple, everyday actions—such as collecting trash, recycling, visiting elderly care homes, and being mindful about saving water, food, and energy—children begin to see that they are capable of helping others and caring for our planet.”
