In a world that is full of learning possibilities, Futuraskolan International leads the way in developing international mindedness amongst our students, staff and families. With us, they evolve to become tolerant, attentive, respectful, curious, communicative and contributing individuals to the society and the world around.
Futuraskolan wishes to make more concrete how we work with the development of global citizenship, our international profile, our promise and our value ground. In the development of global citizenship, we want to nurture an action orientation by getting more of our staff and students/children involved in community service and exchange in order to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and others. This exchange is intended to happen on both a local, national and international level.
Through feeding programs, home visits, sharing of knowledge and learning the connection between Futuraskolan and the international community is strengthened.
Day 5 – Part 2
The afternoon continued to strengthen our students’ global citizenship journey. Working again with ELIX, we visited the 22nd Primary School in Athens, where our students were greeted by excited, smiling children. Their mission: help transform and revitalise the playground. 🎨🛠️
It was heartwarming to see how thoughtfully and enthusiastically our students worked, knowing their efforts would directly impact the younger children’s daily lives. These kinds of hands-on experiences teach teamwork, compassion, and a deeper understanding of community — shaping them into young people ready to make a difference in the world.
After completing the playground, there was time for tag and basketball with the kids — a beautiful moment of connection across ages, cultures, and languages #futuraskolangcp #sdg #elix #erasmusplus

What an inspiring and deeply rewarding morning! 🌄 Our students continued their Greek adventure with a mountainside clean-up together with the fantastic ELIX. Guided by their wonderful volunteers — and the inspiring founder, Eleni Gazi, who even led a mini workout for some of our students — the group jumped straight into meaningful action. 💪
The clean-up wasn’t just about the environment; it was about building awareness, responsibility, and empathy. Experiences like this help shape our students into truly engaged global citizens who understand the value of giving back. After all the hard work, they enjoyed a well-deserved lunch with a real sense of accomplishment.

🌟 Day 4 in Greece – Erasmus+ Adventure Continues! 🇬🇷🇸🇪
Today was a day full of learning, creativity, and environmental action! 🌍💚
After our students proudly presented Stockholm and Swedish culture at Themistoklis School and explored the Olympic values with Greek peers 🔥🤝, we dived into something even closer to the planet’s heart: marine litter and sustainability!
Using the MiO-Clean-Up forms from yesterday’s beach cleaning 🏖️, our students aggregated the data and uploaded it to a citizen science platform that monitors marine litter across the EU and globally 🌊📊. This sparked a fascinating discussion about plastic pollution and the recent laws restricting single-use plastics (SUP) ♻️🚫.
Next, creativity took the stage in our tinkering workshop! 🎨✨ Students used waste collected from the beach and additional recycled materials to upcycle into amazing artwork. The results were incredible, showing teamwork, resilience, and innovation at their finest! 👏💡
A day of cultural exchange, environmental action, and creative problem-solving—perfectly capturing the Erasmus+ spirit! 🌱

Today, our 9th graders were warmly welcomed at Themistoklis School! The Greek students gave us a fascinating tour of their school and shared insights about their daily life and learning environment. 🏫✨
Our students proudly presented Stockholm and Swedish culture, using the fantastic presentations they had prepared in advance. It was amazing to see how knowledge and culture can connect across countries! 🌍💡
Together, Greek and Swedish students explored the Olympics, discussing the history and the symbolism of the Olympic flame. 🔥 We reflected on values like unity, friendship, and excellence—reminding us how sports can inspire global understanding and cooperation. 🤝
A joyful day full of learning, sharing, and cultural exchange! This experience perfectly embodies the spirit of Erasmus+ and highlights the importance of quality education, cultural understanding, and global citizenship. 🌱

After an unforgettable morning at Niarchos Park (see previous post 😉), the afternoon brought a whole new challenge. 🌊♻️
We teamed up with the amazing organisation MIO for a beach cleanup. They showed our students the real impact pollution has on marine life and explained the laws in place to protect our oceans. Watching our students listen, reflect, and step up with such purpose was incredibly inspiring. 🐚💙
Even after a full day of activities, their motivation stayed strong. And honestly, what better way to reward all that hard work than with a refreshing dip in the sea before heading to dinner? 🏖️💦
Moments like these show what global citizenship looks like in action. Our students didn’t just learn about change—they became the change. 🌍✨

What a morning! 🌞✨
Our students kicked off their day at the beautiful Niarchos Park, where they met their Greek counterparts from Themistoklis School. Together, they explored the history of the Olympic Games through fun, hands-on activities and discovered how different sports connect to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 🏅🌍
The teamwork, the laughter, the curiosity—everything just flowed. It was so inspiring to see new friendships form during our team-building challenges. ❤️
We wrapped up the morning with a delicious lunch by the Cultural Center, buzzing with excitement from everything we’d experienced so far. 😋
And little did the students know… the afternoon would take them from Olympic spirits to ocean protection. 😉
