Letter from the CEO – Futuraskolan – December 19, 2025

Good day parents in the Futuraskolan community,

After a week filled with development meetings and visits to several of our campuses, I was  fortunate to spend time with our young learners, whose curiosity, humour, and warmth  continue to inspire all of us at Futuraskolan. Whether sharing conversations over lunch with  students in Stockholm or engaging in lively discussions with Student Council representatives across the organization, I am reminded daily of the tremendous capacity our young learners  possess. We thank you for the trust you place in us to guide your children’s social and  academic journeys. We remain deeply committed to honouring that trust.

I write to you today to update you on important developments across the organization and  to celebrate the remarkable achievements of your students. Based on Skolverket’s recently  published academic results from the 2024-2025 academic year, it is clear that Futuraskolan  students continue to set the standard for excellence.

We are proud to share this year’s academic performance results, which highlight the  strength and consistency of learning across our organization. Futuraskolan AB ranks at the  top among major school organizations in Sweden, reflecting our shared commitment to  high-quality teaching and student development.

We are also pleased to recognize the outstanding achievements of three of our schools,  each of which earned national distinction for academic success:

Futuraskolan International Rådan – Ranked 2nd in Sweden

Futuraskolan International Stockholm – Ranked 32nd in Sweden

Futuraskolan International Kottla – Ranked 38th in Sweden

These results reflect the dedication of our staff, the engagement of our students, and the  trust and partnership of our families.

As you know, our work is rooted in three developmental pillars: Academic Excellence, Digital  Competence, and Global Citizenship. Across our preschools and schools, we continually  evolve our integration of ICT tools to empower learning. AR, VR, and multilingual digital  books support conceptual exploration and early language development. Coding and  programming concepts are introduced through playful pattern-building, music, and  mathematical direction. In our classrooms, students use a wide suite of programs and  creative platforms to present their understanding in ways that best suit their learning styles.  With personal devices available to every student and modern digital tools embedded  throughout our curriculum, we remain committed to engaging our 21st-century learners  with innovative instructional practices.

As AI tools grow increasingly sophisticated, we are seeing meaningful enhancements in how  we personalize instruction and offer students more tailored learning pathways. Still, balance  and digital well-being remain essential. Our digital literacy initiatives help students navigate

technology responsibly, reinforcing habits that support both strong learning and healthy  living.

Our Global Citizenship Program continues to expand its reach. Originally grounded in  community and service initiatives and international outreach, the GCP now works to deepen  the understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals across all Futuraskolan schools  and preschools, strengthen organizational sustainability, and build meaningful community  partnerships. Current projects include outreach to senior homes, food-waste reduction  initiatives, children’s rights activities, participation in Håll Sverige Rent and Grön Flagg,  digital exchanges within the EU, and our ongoing collaboration with Destination  Medmänniska to support families in need.

Looking ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we are thrilled to add new opportunities,  including an expanded Grade 9 Erasmus-funded exchange to Greece focused on  sustainability and refugee support, and a Grade 6 environmental pilot project with  Hands2Ocean involving underwater clean-ups, environmental testing, and awareness building through creative art installations.

In support of continued excellence, our professional development plan remains robust. This  year, various core groups will attend Nordic Network of International Schools, European  Council of International Schools, and international leadership conferences across Europe,  ensuring that Futuraskolan remains at the forefront of research-based and globally  informed educational practice.

To ensure our educators remain leaders in international education, we continue to prioritize  meaningful professional development across our organization. This year, the following  teams will engage in focused training and collaboration:

Special Pedagogues and Curators – European Council of International Schools Inclusion Conference, October 23–25, 2025 in Vienna

First Position Teachers – Nordic Network of International Schools Educators  Conference, November 14–15, 2025 in Vilnius

Middle Leaders Development Program participants Year 2 – Nordic Network  Leadership Conference, March 13–14, 2026 in Gdansk

School and Preschool Leadership Teams – European Council of International Schools Leadership Conference, April 23–25, 2026 in Lisbon

Providing these opportunities ensures that our educators stay connected to global best  practices and continue to bring fresh perspectives and research-based strategies into their  classrooms.

We are also expanding opportunities for student voice and creativity. I will be visiting all  Student Councils again in the spring term to gather feedback, deepen collaboration, and  strengthen student involvement in shaping our organizational development.

Finally, due to growing demand, we are delighted to share that Futuraskolan International  Bergtorp will be expanding to include Grades 4 and 5 beginning in August 2027. This  important development strengthens our mission to offer an engaging, globally minded  education from an earlier age.

Under the strong leadership of Kevin Munro and his dedicated team, our new younger  learners will experience the same curiosity-driven, creative, and internationally focused  environment that defines the Futuraskolan experience. Guided by the International Middle  Years Curriculum (IMYC) and enriched through our signature programs in Creative Arts,  Global Citizenship, and Sports & Wellness, students are supported in developing both  academic excellence and personal growth.

As part of one of Sweden’s top-performing school organizations in Grade 9 merit points, we  are committed to laying the strongest possible foundation for lifelong learning—now  beginning in Grade 4. Registration is now open through Schoolsoft, and our team is happy to  assist families with any questions. We look forward to welcoming new learners and  beginning this exciting new chapter together.

Lastly, to assist the parent community in fostering strong and independent achievers we  present to you a core parenting concept, ‘’Stop Should’ing your Child’’.

Effective parenting thrives on communication that builds trust, confidence, and problem solving skills. While it is often easy to point out what a child should have done differently,  doing so rarely supports growth. “Should have” statements shift the focus from solutions to  shame, making children hesitant to bring challenges or mistakes to their parents.

Instead, we encourage parents to communicate directly and respectfully about expectations  and impacts. Statements like “I want you to call me when you’re going to be late so I don’t  worry” or “I would like you to finish your school work at school” express needs clearly  without blame. This helps children stay open to guidance and take responsibility for their  choices.

By removing “should have” from our vocabulary, we keep communication open and  constructive. When children feel safe approaching their parents without fear of criticism,  they grow in confidence, responsibility, and emotional resilience. Parenting with clarity and  empathy builds stronger relationships—allowing children to learn, reflect, and thrive.

We have exciting opportunities ahead, and none of this would be possible without the  intelligence, perseverance, and spirit your students bring to our schools each day. They  continue to impress us, inspire us, and affirm our belief in the power of education to shape  a bright future.

Wishing you all a warm, family-oriented winter holidays ahead. On behalf of myself and the  entire leadership team, thank you for entrusting us with your children’s social and academic  development. We remain passionately committed to honouring your trust.

Sincerely yours,

Tom Callahan
