Every year Code.org runs Hour of Code. As the name suggests it’s based on offering 1 hour coding tutorials in over 45 languages with no experience necessary.
Throughout Futuraskolan we have participated in the event, giving our learners the opportunity to explore computer science in a fun and interactive way. The aim has been to spark interest in coding and programming for those who may not usually gravitate to this area of learning. Here are some of the highlights.
Futuraskolan Stockholm – Sheetal “Grade 7_Hour of Code_Our students proudly completed an hour of coding with 100 million students 😀 Computer Science Education is becoming the backbone of our society 💻👨💻👩💻💻 Don’t just play on your phone, program it😉 ”
Futurakolan International – Have been working through various activities supplied by code.org: Minecraft Voyage Aquatic Block Coding, Minecraft Heros Journey, Dance Party and more. Certificates were awarded to mark the occasion
Futuraskolan Gåshaga – Grades 1 to 3 have used ‘CodeSpark Academy’. “The students are absolutely obsessed with it, I even got messages from parents saying their kids are asking them to use it at home too!”
Futuraskolan Rådan – have been using Tynker to explore block programming and pixel based digital creations.
Futuraskolan Bergtorp – During our mathmatics lessons the students were assigned to do these tasks. Here comes a student’s solution to calculating perimeter and area.
Gåshaga preschool – Using dash to create music through patterns and colour.
Futuraskolan Preschool Brunbärsvägen – Sasa “We continued with “coding tasks”, learning about patterns and algorithms. This is a set of instructions given to a computer to perform a task. We use algorithms every day when we get dressed, brush our teeth, etc. We practised with patterns that the children had to finish and after this activity a second group worked with the robot.”
