Richard Bond – New Principal of Gåshaga Elementary School

Information message from the CEO – Leadership development at Futuraskolan International Gåshaga
Good morning members of the Futuraskolan community,
I hope you all are having a fantastic start to your well-deserved, summer holidays.
The leadership team of Futuraskolan AB are thrilled to announce that Richard Bond has graciously agreed to assume the position of Principal of Futuraskolan International Gåshaga. This appointment is effective today.
Richard came to Futuraskolan, a certified gym teacher and immediately began making his mark. As the acting Academic Coordinator early in his career at Futuraskolan, there was a poorly performing employee who gave misinformation to the parent community, resulting in a strong expression of genuine concern. When pressed for information by the organization’s leadership, Richard stated, and I won’t soon forget this, ‘’we require all teachers to include differentiation in all of their lesson planning, specifically so that we can equip parents and the EHT teams to best support the students outside the classroom. This is something we aren’t keen to adjust.’’
Richard exploded into the discussion for a leadership role by taking that, at the time, very unpopular stance.
After participating in our Middle Leaders Development Program, Richard was enrolled in the state Rektorsprogrammet, which he completed in June 2024. While serving as Vice Principal of Futuraskolan International Gåshaga, Richard introduced two new innovations to our organization’s leadership team. The first was Positive Discipline, which included international training and in-house workshops for members of the wider Futuraskolan teaching community. The next was the KIDS Program, an evidenced based community development program aimed at equipping guardians to navigate the difficult topic of screen time, specifically phone screens.
Richards leadership has resulted in student and guardian development across the organization.
We are thrilled that Richard has agreed to lend Futuraskolan his immense talents in an expanded leadership role.
Have a fantastic summer holiday everyone.
Sincerely,
Tom Callahan
CEO – Futuraskolan

About us
Welcome to Futuraskolan International Gåshaga. We are a bilingual school with an international perspective offering Grades F-6. The foundation of our education is the Swedish National Curriculum which we in addition are utilizing with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). The IPC stimulates our students’ curiosity, creativity, participation and commitment. Through thematic content and an integrated subject approach, students are provided with resources that allow for holistic learning.
In an increasingly globalized and challenging world, we believe that the knowledge of languages is essential. We therefore have extended the hours of our instruction in English. In our bilingual school, English is as important as Swedish and the students are taught by native Swedish and English speaking teachers. A third of the school’s staff are English speaking.
Futuraskolan’s values are based on Progressiveness, Energy and Respect. Progressiveness represents, among other things, that our pedagogy is based on scientific research and proven experience. We work actively to create a safe and creative learning environment where students and teachers have an open curiosity for learning to learn. At school we have a respectful relationship towards each other that creates a foundation for challenging oneself.
We see ICT as a way to boost learning through the use of digital tools. The students publish work at lidingo.futuraskolan.se where other students and parents can enjoy amazing stories and creative work. Our students work with programming which progresses from analogue programming to programming robots and working with the programming language Swift.
We have an active Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) which is an important part of the operation of the school. The group consists of parent representatives from each class. The group is advisory, not decisive in nature and works towards creating meaningful and developing co-operation between school and home.
We welcome you to Futuraskolan International Gåshaga!
