Letter from the CEO – Tragic Event in Örebro
Good evening members of the Futuraskolan community,
We are all aware of the tragic event that unfolded today at the educational facility in Örebro. This event affects us all as members of the greater academic community and as residents of Sweden. Futuraskolan condemns all forms of violence and our thoughts are with the victims’ families during this difficult time.
Our concern this week extends to the students and families in the Futuraskolan community. Schools must always remain safe places for students to explore, learn and grow. Futuraskolan is committed to ensuring all of our facilities are locked to all outside visitors. We have partnered with a variety of security agencies as a part of our comprehensive community support strategy. All of our schools and preschools practice emergency response procedures on a regular basis, including lockdown and evacuation protocols.
If you or your student have been affected by the events of today we ask you to inform your school or preschool Principal or a member of your schools Student Care Team. Our counsellors and special pedagogues have been prepared and are eager to meet with students or student groups who are facing difficult emotions during this challenging time.
It is a sad day for our nation. Please join us in offering your thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and please be eager to contact your school or preschool if you feel your student could use an extra bit of attention in the coming weeks. This is a time for our community to come together and extend a compassionate arm to each other.
Sincerely,
Tom
